Turning the negative to positive

Forty-nine percent (49%) of adults nationwide now say it is possible for anyone who really wants to work to find a job. That’s up from 45% a month ago but still down from 52% in January. (Rasmussen)
Real Statistics from Rasmussen

While the economy is showing a glimmer of hope, are you? I truly believe we get so caught up in our own issues, negativity and problems that we sabotage our own capabilities.

Start today to elevate your thinking and dust off that positive attitude that is hiding under the guise of “bad times.”

1. Hang around positive people.
2. Got negative? Remember you are in control of how you think.
3. Stay realistic. A realist, vs. an optimist or pessimist, says you have the wrong size glass.
4. Access enough news to stay up to date.  Otherwise, turn it off!
5. Add joy and fun to your life.  Enjoy the spring, take a walk, go bowling or picnic at the park.
6. Volunteer – 2 hours a month is all you need to lift your spirits.

Visit a Library7. Read, learn and apply. Go to the library.
I’m off to take a bike ride!  See ya…

Lessons learned … trademarks

When starting a business, the “to do” list feels like a jaunt up Mt. Everest without the Sherpa. Between business plans, financing and product development, the task of creating your own business is more than daunting. In that process, trademarks seldom weigh-in at the top of the list. Failure to consider this could be a very costly mistake. Read more

Personal Responsibility and YOU

In this age of entitlement, bailouts and apathy, it becomes more important than ever to  to stand up for your rights and beliefs while not violating the rights of others.  The challenge is to take responsibility for every element of your personal and professional life.  Two of the topics at the top of my list right now are social networking and challenging myself to stay up in down times, especially with the negatives heard every day through the media.

Social Media?  Yep.  Learn about it and use it.  Begin by following Chris Brogan. He is cutting edge and will help you see the application of these dynamic tools for your business and personal relationships.

Join my Personal Responsibility for Success Club on Facebook. Follow me at mpsue and others on Twitter. These tools cost you nothing but time, and I guarantee that when you pledge to yourself to take personal responsibility for your success, you will open doors that you didn’t even know were there!

What is your take on personal responsibility?

Need royalty free music for a slideshow or movie?

April 5, 2009 by Amy Shaw

In the course of trying to find music for the WOMA’s first video, launched at SHOT 2009, we ran across an artist’s website that provides royalty-free music in MP3 format. Josh Woodward, www.joshwoodward.com, offers an eclectic assortment of music appropriate for jingles, slideshows, movies, websites — and, with no royalties. Just make sure you credit Josh with the song rights always. And, Josh has recently stripped lyrics from many of his songs — making them perfect background tunes.Or, for your listening pleasure while working, you might enjoy this guy’s talent.

Make sure you share your “free finds” with your WOMA mates, won’t you? We’re all in this economy together!
