Katherine graduated cum laude from Mount Holyoke College with a degree in biology and has worked as a wildlife and fisheries biologist, fly-fishing guide and whitewater rafting guide in Gunnison, Colorado. As the Pro-Staff Coordinator for Prois Hunting Apparel, she provides apparel to the most talented and well-known women in the hunting industry, as well as showcasing the activities and accomplishments of the Prois pro-staff.

Member of The WOMA, Katherine BrowneKatherine didn’t grow up in a hunting or fishing family, but her passion for the outdoors led her to her current lifestyle.  Every winter for the past three years, she has trapped and trained a bird of prey for hunting and released it the following spring. In addition to falconry, fly fishing and whitewater rafting, Katherine enjoys hunting elk, deer, grouse and turkeys. Katherine often feels that there are not enough hours in the day to spend outside doing the things she loves.

Hi Katherine, and welcome to The WOMA! That’s a mighty impressive brown trout. This enthusiastic but less-than-professional fly fisherman hopes he can fish with Katherine soon.

Welcome, Katherine! What an awesome photo of you and the falcon. I hope to see a post from you on The WOMA all about falconry and working with birds of prey.

Katherine – let me know if you ever do a falconry camp or training as my daughter (a biology grad from Univ of AZ) and I would both LOVE to do this type of “mini” camp if possible. She and I have alway had an interest in birds of prey and I didn’t realize it was possible to do a catch and release successfully as part of a hunting program. Can’t wait to see some video from you! THANKS and welcome to The WOMA -

Thank you so much for the support everyone! As for the camp I think that’s a great idea. I’ll let you know what develops Deb!

Katherine – that is so awesome about your falconry train and release efforts. We had a falconer come to our Wednesday night Sportsman’s Ministry Bible Study and he brought 2 falcons with him, a male and female — it was so unbelievably impressive! Absolutely amazing…he does the same, but keeps them a bit longer because he rehabilitates them after an injury. I think he keeps them about 18 months then sends them into the woods to look for prey, then gets into his truck and leaves. Makes me teary just thinking about it!! You’re doing an awesome thing and I can’t wait to read all about what you’re doing — Welcome to The WOMA!
