The Babes with Bullets ™ program kicked off its sixth year at the home range of head instructor, Kay Miculek of Princeton, La., in early April.  The ladies action shooting program has been underwritten by Smith & Wesson since 2004 and recently OTIS Technology joined as a Platinum Sponsor. The 3 day immersion program, with more than 1,200 alumnae,  offers the opportunity for novice women to be taught by female handgun champions.  The camp also offers additional training for women entering into competitive shooting events.  Babes with Bullets™ will be hosting its first Pacific Northwest event at the Albany Rifle & Pistol Club south of Portland, Oregon, in late June.  There are additional camps being held throughout 2010, including the launch of Babes with Bullets Part 2 – The Rifle being held in November. For more information or to register for a future camp visit www.BabeswithBullets.com

As a 2-camp alumna, and camp volunteer, I wanted to again volunteer and stay on for the advanced camp, so off to Princeton I drove. WOW! It never ceases to amaze me the level of professionalism Deb and the instructors demonstrate, the new friends I make, and the rewards I gain personally and professionally by attending the Babes camps. The advanced camp is definitely for those who have attended multiple camps and are ready to take that “next step” into Babe-dom but need to fine-tune and hone the skills they’ve learned in Babes beginning camp. Same song, different verse. :) Loved it, and can’t wait for the next!

…or should I say “next verse”!

Ditto to what Melita said. Although I haven’t attended as many camps and the Princeton camp was my first chance to be part of the camera crew, I really feel like part of a family. I think the coolest part for me was introducing my mom, Gwen, to the Babes. Thanks to Deb and crew for a great experience and Melita, I hope we’ll get the opportunity to “work” together at another camp real soon!

I bet Kay never imagined how huge this would get. Not just an amazing competitor with an astounding amount of national and world titles, she has done SO much to get women out there and shooting. Kay – you are truly inspiration!
