It’s official—Kay Miculek and the Babes with Bullets (BWB) Ladies Action Shooting Camp are coming to Steamboat! This is a shooting camp for women only, taught by champion lady shooters. BWB is a wonderful introduction to shooting, or a great way to improve your skills if you’re already a shooter. The all-ladies environment really adds to the learning experience and enjoyment of the camp.

Author Marsha Petrie Sue polishes her marksmanship skills under the watchful eyes of a Babes with Bullets instructor.

Arrival will be the afternoon of May 19, 2011, with 2.5 days of shooting May 20 – 22. We will be shooting at the Routt County Rifle Club. Not only is the RCRC not charging to use the range, but is also offering a partial scholarship to one local lady who is (or whose husband is) a member of the club or a Lorna Farrow shooting participant. The scholarship will be awarded by random drawing.

Also, HiViz Shooting Systems offers a 50% scholarship to each BWB class. Please e-mail Kay Miculek at Kaycmic@cs.com if you are interested.

Cost is $675 unless you are a member of the NRA or USPSA, in which case it is $650. The extra $25 goes toward your NRA or USPSA membership. The fee includes world-class instructors, loaner equipment (gun, holster, mag holder) if needed and accommodations at the lodge at Bear Mountain Ranch, approximately 30 minutes from the range.

Breathtaking scenery at Bear Mountain Ranch

Kay and Deb Ferns (who organizes the camps, with Kay providing instruction and instructors) feel that having all campers stay at the provided accommodations adds greatly to the “immersion” program that is very important to the overall experience. Much is shared and learned over meals and while together NOT at the range.

As Deb puts it, “How many girls in junior high go to a pajama party and do not spend the night?  Staying together is part and parcel of the experience.”  No discount is given if local ladies stay at their homes—so plan to enjoy Bear Mountain Ranch!

To learn more about the instructors, the camps in general and the Steamboat camp specifically, please visit Bang, Inc. or the Babes with Bullets site. You may also register online at either site. The BWB site has good videos of previous camps and offers a great preview of the BWB experience.
