Amy Sowash grew up with an Olympic dream and a love of shooting. Her father taught her to shoot a rifle and bow at a young age and she was lucky enough to be able to foster her talent through a local 4H program. Later, as an athlete on the University of Kentucky rifle team, Amy earned All-American honors. After graduation, she moved to the Olympic
Training Center in Colorado where she continues her quest for Olympic gold.
Amy has won two National Championships, a silver medal from the Pan American Games, a bronze from the Championship of the Americas, and most recently was a silver medalist at World Cup Australia 2011. Being on the women’s 3×20 team which won the World Championship in 2010 is her favorite and most memorable achievement.
As an elite athlete in USA Shooting, Amy serves as a role model for young women in the shooting sports. She spends time with the local junior program and attends industry events because she believes it is important for women to have a presence and voice.
