CMG Marketing and Events announces “Riggo on the Range” treats viewers to culinary twist on sports hunting with guest celebs, airing January 2013

WASHINGTON, May 8, 2012 — Sportsman Channel, the leader in outdoor TV for the American sportsman, announced today that NFL Hall of Famer and former New York Jets and Washington Redskins running back John Riggins has agreed to host a new celebrity-loaded series — “Riggo on the Range” — scheduled to begin airing January 2013 on the cable network.
“Riggo on the Range” will treat viewers to a culinary twist on hunting, featuring guest celebrities from food, entertainment, music and sports worlds. Each segment will follow Riggins around the world in pursuit of extraordinary hunting, outdoor and cooking adventures.
“Growing up in the Midwest, I have always had a love of the outdoors and a passion for hunting,” said Riggins. “But I also love to mix it up in the kitchen. I’ve been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to hunt all over the world. Each place I’ve visited has its own uniqueness and character, and I want to bring to our audience the flavor of places we’ll venture to each week, where people have been working and living off the land for centuries.”
“We’re pleased with Riggins’ decision to showcase his sportsman DNA to our enthusiasts. Sportsman Channel is about authenticity, and ‘Riggo on the Range’ successfully encapsulates that foundation,” said Graig Hale, Sportsman Channel VP of business development.
“Riggo on the Range” will be a unique show in the outdoor television category. It marries the “larger than life” persona of Riggins with his love of hunting, the outdoors and culinary arts to create a series that has never been done before. In an added twist to the show, Riggins will take his prizes from the field into the kitchen to show viewers how to create a round-table feast using the assortment of in-season game and fowl he and his guests will hunt. In the first segments, Riggins and his guests will be traveling to Kansas and New Mexico as well as locations in Canada.
Riggins’ film crew is led by Curtis Fleming, award-winning host and executive producer of “Fly Rod Chronicles.” The series is produced by Fly Fishing Explorations Inc., based in Winchester, Va.

SHOT Show MEDIA DAY AT THE RANGE 2012

February 2, 2012 by

February 1, 2012 – In its sixth-year, the 2012 SHOT Show Media Day at the Range broke all attendance records. The event which is held on the day prior to SHOT Show, was attended by over 1,200 members of the media. With over 100 manufacturers exhibiting, Media Day at the Range continues to be the largest media event in the hunting and shooting industry, giving outdoor media the opportunity to shoot and test the best new products for 2012. Attending manufacturers get a jump on their competition with early media exposure highlighting their products for print, broadcast and internet coverage.

A special thanks to Media Day’s presenting sponsor NSSF as well as all our supporting sponsors, Winchester Ammunition, Caracal, Rock Island Armory, 5-11 Tactical, Tactical-Life.com, Action Target, Federal Premium Ammunition, Browning and GunBroker.com for their support in helping make this day the success it is.

“SHOT Show Media Day at the Range has become an important part of the overall SHOT Show experience,” said NSSF Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Chris Dolnack. “After its first year as title sponsor, NSSF looks forward to reviewing feedback from attendees and working with the organizers to make Media Day even better next year.”
The first annual Action Target Media Day Safety Award was presented to Remington Arms for demonstrating the highest standards of safety during the range day. Each exhibitor was judged by a panel of safety auditors from DOA Tactical. In addition to the recognition, Remington also received $3,500 towards their 2013 SHOT Show Media Day at the Range registration fee.
Open to all in the hunting and shooting industry, manufacturers, conservation groups and shooting organizations are welcomed on a first-come, first-served basis. This year’s exhibitors ranged from firearms manufacturers to tactical clothing companies. This year’s event also included an expanded short and long range shooting areas which allowed the media to test many more new products than ever before.

“Media Day dramatically improved our new product launch at SHOT Show,” said Jody Lamb, Marketing Manager for VANGUARD, a manufacturer of sporting optics and shooting accessories. “Hundreds of editors, writers and TV and radio hosts put our binoculars and spotting scopes to the test out on the range. You really can’t tell the quality of glass inside of a convention center so Media Day made it an effective setting for everyone. We’re so excited to see everyone again next year.”

Accordingly to Bill Dermody of Savage Arms, “I got more PR work done in one day than in months. It is going to take me weeks to get all the consignment guns to writers,” he said.

“Media Day funnels hundreds of people and products to the firing line– people with deep expertise in shooting gear, and products brand-new to market” said outdoor writer Wayne van Zwoll. “If you’re not part of Media Day, you’re missing a first look at tomorrow’s headline hardware, and a chance to buttonhole the engineers who designed it. No other event so clearly registers the pulse of the shooting industry!”

Media Day at the Range 2012 was also a fundraiser for Safari Club International. Through the generous donation of products to the silent auction from many of the manufacturers, funds were raised during the event in support of SCI’s many conservation programs.

Don’t miss out on next year’s Media Day at the Range to be held January 14, 2013. Details concerning exhibitor registration will be available in the coming weeks. ATTENTION MEDIA PROFESSIONALS

October 17, 2011 by

LAS VEGAS, Nev.—With the support of the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the seventh annual SHOT Show Media Day at the RangeTM will be on Monday, January 16, at the Boulder City Pistol & Rifle Range, Boulder City, Nevada.

You may register for this event by visiting http://shotshow.org/Media/Registration/. When you have completed your SHOT Show® media registration and elect to attend Media Day at the Range, you will receive a second email registration confirmation for Media Day. You must print and have with you to enter the event on January 16.

Due to an expected large turnout, and to allow for a safe and informative day, Media Day registration will close at 1,200 attendees and no later than December 15. Please be sure you pass this information on to all individuals from your publication or broadcast property who may want to attend so they can register. Unlike in past years, there will be no on-site registration on the day of event.

Be sure you visit www.media-day.com and take note of the entire list of exhibitors, including first-time exhibitors at this year’s event: Caracal, Sig Sauer, Benelli, Browning, Remington and many more. Exhibitors will continue to be added through December 1, so check back often.

Guest procedures are changing a bit this year due to the size of the event. If your guest is coming as media AND expects to shoot, etc., they MUST register on the SHOT Show site and receive the Media Day confirmation as noted above. If they are coming as a guest, which means they may not be able to test any of the firearms, they will have to register at the door as a guest and pay a $20 fee.

The reason we are placing this stipulation in affect this year is due to the fact that last year the #1 comment/complaint we received from the media survey conducted was the long lines to test fire product and often times there were guests shooting and asking questions of the exhibitors. This combined with the expense of ammunition and the expectation that we will have nearly 1,200 attendees at Media Day, has required us to suggest to the exhibitors to only allow media to shoot if there are lines at their exhibit.

A full schedule of events along with the bus schedule and hotel pick-up areas will be posted on the www.media-day.com website in December.

Media Day is open only to registered SHOT Show media and exhibitors. For additional information, contact Cory Cannon with Triple Curl at ccannon@triplecurl.com or Cathy Williams with CMG Marketing & Events at cathy@cmgmarketingandevents.com .

NEWTOWN, CONN.-  CMG Marketing & Events and Triple Curl Public Relations & Advertising are pleased to announce that the National Shooting Sports Foundation has made a three-year commitment to become the title sponsor of SHOT Show Media Day at the Range.  The annual SHOT Show Media Day at the Range, held the day before SHOT Show, has become one of the largest gatherings of media in the industry with more than 600 in attendance this past January.  This event gives industry media the opportunity to handle, shoot and review new products and services from over 75 leading manufacturers, non-profit and conservation groups.

“We are extremely pleased to be the title sponsor of SHOT Show Media Day at the Range.  This event has a long history of value to those who participate and is a natural fit for NSSF as owner of the SHOT Show,” said Chris Dolnack, senior vice president and chief marketing officer of NSSF.  “The working media has become a major part of the SHOT Show.  The SHOT Show Media Day at the Range is a great opportunity for our members and exhibitors since the media actually has an opportunity to go out and test new products.  Last year a record number of media attended, and I think the cooperative alliance with CMG Marketing & Events and Triple Curl Public Relations & Advertising will make this an even larger and more meaningful event.”

“We could not be more pleased with the commitment that the NSSF is making to this event,” said Cathy Williams and Cory Cannon, co-producers of Media Day.  “This long-term agreement shows the continued commitment of Media Day to the industry and nearly 2,000 members of the media community that every manufacturer counts on to broaden the reach of their products to the end consumer,” stated Ms. Williams.

Manufacturer registration is now taking place for SHOT Show Media Day 2012, which will be held on January 16 at the Boulder City Pistol and Rifle Range.  It is anticipated that the 2012 event will be full to capacity.  Additional sponsorship opportunities are available.  Visit www.media-day.com for registration and sponsorship details.

Scholastic Clay Target Program success stories

June 25, 2010 by

Shelby Township, Mich. – It has been a year of successes for many of the thousands of youth participants in the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) since the nine-year-old nonprofit organization was taken over by the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF). The program, created to introduce youth to the fun and excitement of shooting, was originally administered by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF). The NSSF handed the reins over to the SSSF last year in a move that would allow the new foundation to better focus on the needs of SCTP’s youth participants and coaches and further grow the program.

Notable successes and individual achievements under the SSSF’s guidance over the past year include:

  • Allyson Brugioni, a sophomore at Ankeny High School in Ankeny, Iowa, won top honors for female shooters at the Iowa State High School State Trap Shoot in Cedar Falls last June. Brugioni was one of 315 high school participants in the competition.
  • Another Iowa competitor, Justin Fey, a junior from Maquoketa, showed true grit in his desire and ability to competitively shoot. Following an October 2008 accident in which he lost part of three fingers on his right hand, Fey was back shooting with a new form less than five months later. Then in May, he broke his leg, which forced him to compete at the end of the season from a sitting position and at the state championships while still in a cast. Despite this, Fey maintained his position on his school’s First Team and went on to help them win the Iowa Cup along with first in league and first in state.
  • Two 14-year-old members of the Georgia Claybusters squad, Matt Fisher and Will Hinton, enjoyed an exceptional year of competition. Fisher earned eight 1st-place divisional and competition honors and six 2nds and placed in nine others, while Hinton won 10 divisional or overall competitions including Georgia State Sub Junior Champion and Georgia Games Junior Trap and Sporting Champion. Hinton also took 2nd-place honors in four competitions and placed in eight others.
  • The competitive fire and accomplishments of Sydney and Steve Duncan of the Gaston Young Guns was featured on NRA News’ World Wide Web radio program.
  • In an effort to raise much needed funds to send two squads to the SCTP Nationals, all of Massachusetts’ young shooters have banded together to hold a fundraising “Shoot-A-Thon.” The cost of sending just one squad is estimated to be around $7,000. The teams hope to raise as much as $17,500 and agree that one of the squads to go to Nationals will be the overall winner at the State Championships this June. The second team will be selected at random from the 1st-place squads in the remaining divisions.

The pride, determination and competitive fire demonstrated by all of these young competitors and many others like them, as well as the urgent need for funding to support their efforts as exhibited by the Massachusetts’ shooters, underscores the vital need for continued donor support.

To date, more than 30,000 middle and high school students have participated in the program, which includes trap, skeet, sporting clays, Olympic trap and international skeet competitions. Without continued corporate and individual contributions to the SSSF, which is responsible for all aspects of the SCTP, including participant registration, coaches, state coordinators, state and national championships, promotion, communications, websites, public relations and growth strategies, many of these young shooters stand to miss out on the great opportunities the program affords.

“We are asking NSSF members in particular to stand up and directly support this wonderful program, which will ultimately benefit their business and industry as well,” says Dr. Bill Christy, Executive Director of the SSSF. “A lot of members think because they support the NSSF, that their money also goes to support the SSSF and SCTP. That’s not necessarily the case. While the NSSF remains one of our biggest supporters, they have a number of other important programs to fund. A contribution directly to the SSSF is the only sure way to support this program. It is a contribution in our industry’s future and the futures of these deserving, young competitors.”

To learn more about how your company can become an SSSF donor and to learn more about the SCTP, visit their website at www.sssfonline.org.
