Winning big in Vegas

Last week was an exciting time for the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) and the firearms industry. I have been fortunate enough to attend a number of Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trades Shows (SHOT Show) over the years. Not only was this year’s show packed, but I was particularly excited to see more products designed for women on the show floor than ever.

I also attended my first WOMA networking event.  What a wonderful opportunity to meet members of WOMA and talk about generating exposure for women in the outdoor industry! It was such a pleasure to meet and reconnect with some of the people who have pioneered the way into a traditionally male industry. Though not a huge gathering in number, the event hosted a talented and diverse spectrum of participants dedicated to the goals of The WOMA.

For those who didn’t have the opportunity to attend, Kim Pezzeminti of Doeville.com graciously donated several beautiful door prizes at the event. One of these prizes was a beautiful, bronze and peach, freshwater pearl and antler shed necklace with matching earrings. I admit to fully thinking, “Ooh, pick me!” for the drawing and it must have paid off.  I was a very lucky winner, not only for the beautiful jewelry, but for the opportunity to meet others dedicated to promoting women in the outdoor industry.

Kim Pezzaminti Original PhotoKim Pezzeminti is the “wearer of many hats” with two brands and companies: DoeVille the Female Huntress and Buki Originals. After working almost 20 years in the ceramic tile industry and traveling extensively, she decided to touch down and keep her feet on the ground in Florida, where she created Doeville.com, which sells custom clothing and accessories.

Kim was 41 when she shot her first spike buck at 200 yards during muzzleloading season. She still considers herself to be a “huntress in training” under the loving and patient tutelage of her husband, Sandy. Not only do Kim and Sandy enjoy hunting from their two-seater tree stand, dubbed “the love nest,” but they also enjoy trying different wild game recipes together.

Kudos to Doeville

Thanks to Doeville for contributing a generous donation to The WOMA recently to sponsor the top banner ad on this website. Look for Doeville to be revamping its website in the near future, and for its owner, The WOMA member Kim Pezzeminti, to become a regular blogger there. Kim’s vision for Doeville, a place for women, is still evolving and we’re delighted that she included The WOMA in that evolution.

Kim pezzemintiKim attended The WOMA launch in Orlando last January and commented about the energy and buzz she felt in the room. No where in the industry will you find a group of women in an outdoor communicators’ organization that has the momentum and positive attitude that we encourage here at The WON. And, we have a few guys onboard who heartily agree with the mission of having an organization for and about women in the outdoors, and for that, we say thanks and let’s move forward.

And, thanks, again, Kim and Doeville!

You may sign up for a monthly $50 drawing from Doeville by going to its website and entering your email address in the top right corner. While you’re there, shop around a bit.
