Fun Female-Friendly Targets by GunFun.com

Recently, I had the chance to do some target practice with two of my favorite gal-pals, WOMA Chair Deb Ferns and WOMA member Marilyn Vogel. Nothing unusual about that. What was unusual was what we were shooting — GunFun.com’s line of female-friendly (and somewhat comical) targets. Bennett Perritt, the company’s owner, started out with a publishing company that branched out into target printing after his son asked for an air rifle. It took 8 months from the first printing until Bennett was satisfied with his targets. That’s a perfectionist at work.
Gunfun.com offers many target packages to choose from — check them out at www.gunfun.com, like them on Facebook (www.facebook.com/gunfuntargets) and follow them on Twitter (@gunfuntargets).
Babes with Bullets™ starts sixth year of camps
The Babes with Bullets ™ program kicked off its sixth year at the home range of head instructor, Kay Miculek of Princeton, La., in early April. The ladies action shooting program has been underwritten by Smith & Wesson since 2004 and recently OTIS Technology joined as a Platinum Sponsor. The 3 day immersion program, with more than 1,200 alumnae, offers the opportunity for novice women to be taught by female handgun champions. The camp also offers additional training for women entering into competitive shooting events. Babes with Bullets™ will be hosting its first Pacific Northwest event at the Albany Rifle & Pistol Club south of Portland, Oregon, in late June. There are additional camps being held throughout 2010, including the launch of Babes with Bullets Part 2 – The Rifle being held in November. Marilyn Vogel has been an Arizonian since 1961. She spent the first 30 years of her adult life in the banking and accounting business. In 2002 she was introduced to USPSA action pistol shooting by Deb Ferns (Babes with Bullets) and became a big fan of the new sport. She also found that she loved being behind a camera, starting out with still photos back in the ’70s and then graduating to video in the ’90s. Read more

This week, our Deb and an entourage that includes other members of The WOMA (Marilyn Vogel, Kay Clark Miculek and Lisa Munson) are headed to Anchorage, Alaska for the 2010 Iditarod. Deb will be sharing her adventure through video with readers of her column, Outside My Comfort Zone, over at The Women’s Outdoor News. We’re looking forward to the updates and hearing all about the trip when the women of The WOMA return.
